Energy balance & macro scores
The coloured halo around each circle shows intake vs. burn. Segments score protein, carbs and fats (green, orange, red). In week and month view, every day gets its own mini-circle.
PastePlate-AI does not run its own AI in the cloud. You pick your AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok…), chat about what you eat, and sync the full day into your logbook: macros, plant diversity and daily report with one paste.
Works with every modern chat-AI
The only app built for day, week and month reports written by your ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok or DeepSeek. Copy paste, no API, no extra chat fees from us.
Calorie apps give charts. PastePlate-AI gives you personally written coaching reports from your own chat (Bring Your Own AI): structured, imported and stored word for word. Your optional personal note unlocks a section where your coach explores your own questions over time.
After each meal you get more than numbers. Your coach explains what your choice means for your day: macros, satiety, fat quality, plant variety, and shows your progress vs. your goal. Targeted feedback after every meal; at the end of the day, week and month the same coach zooms out to full reports.
Personal coach note (optional): one free text field in setup. Allergies, shift work, histamine sensitivity, or the question you have carried for years: “Why am I exhausted every afternoon?” No fixed checkboxes. You log meals and mention how you felt in chat; your coach writes Personal goal from your themes, with cautious pattern recognition across days and weeks.
Behavior & patterns is separate: eating behavior from your log (timing, snacking, weekend vs. weekday). Symptoms and questions from your note belong under Personal goal. Change your note under Settings → Profile; the coach adapts from the next chat onward.
Example: “You mentioned afternoon fatigue. On three of five workdays you ate a quick lunch after 2 p.m.; on quieter days that did not happen. Too early to conclude, but a thread to watch next week.”
Every report uses the same emoji sections. Your coach zooms out: today, the past week or the full month. Titles below follow the daily report. Personal goal only with a filled coach note. Hydration only with water tracking on.
Each section is prose from your coach in day, week and month reports, stored word for word in the app. Share any section as a poster if you want. This is not a generic dashboard summary.
Bring Your Own AI, with imported reports this rich. PastePlate-AI never calls your AI in the background. The app copies prompts, you paste into your own chat. Your coach writes. We provide the structure. You keep every word.
PastePlate-AI is a nutrition logbook and coaching workflow. It does not provide medical advice. See our health sources and health disclaimer.
The app ships the protocol. You bring the AI you already pay for, or use a free model.
You pick your coach and switch anytime in settings. PastePlate-AI has no built-in AI: you chat in your own powerful model (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok…) and paste the result back into your logbook. When your provider ships a better model, you benefit immediately: sharper macro estimates, better reports, deeper coaching, without waiting for an app update for that. We still update the app regularly with new features and improvements based on user feedback.
Calorie target, strategy, coach tone, meal rules, plant diversity and exactly how your coach packages the day for import: all in one start prompt. Fill in your personal goal in your profile and your AI carries it into every chat, alongside your standard settings. Allergies, shift work, intolerances or questions like "why am I so tired every afternoon?": no fixed boxes, your words, room for your whole story. One chat per calendar day keeps the coach consistent, from your first meal to the daily report you import at the end of the day.
That daily report follows a fixed structure with sections such as personal goal (deeper analysis from your written goal and what you share in chat), weight status, physical context (body fat %, BMI, FFMI), calories & protein, hydration, protein & satiety, daily total & nutritional analysis, longevity or plant variety (or variety & balance), nutritional quality, behavior & patterns, your win & what went well, growth opportunities and steps forward for tomorrow.
No PastePlate cloud: your logbook stays on your device and we have no access to it. No tracking, no selling data. You control backups and can transfer your database between Android and iOS. After you paste into an AI, that provider's privacy rules apply, not ours.

Tap the icon at the top centre of the app. The same three menu items repeat every day.
Tap the AI icon at the top centre 1 to open the AI menu. Three options belong to one calendar day. This is where you start the day.

At the end of the day, often the next morning: tap the AI icon at the top centre 1 to open the AI menu again. Same calendar day as this morning.

Back in PastePlate-AI, with the data block on your clipboard: tap the AI icon at the top centre 1 to open the AI menu. This completes the same calendar day.

Every meal is stored with its full nutrient panel: macros, fat quality, fibre, salt, plant ingredients and recipe text. Day, week and month views show scores, energy balance and, with Longevity on, your plant count. Tap through to the meals behind each score. Want to plan ahead instead of looking back? That is what the week planner is for.
The coloured halo around each circle shows intake vs. burn. Segments score protein, carbs and fats (green, orange, red). In week and month view, every day gets its own mini-circle.
On any day, week or month circle: tap a macro segment → Analysis options → View meals to see which dishes drove the score, or Why this score? for a plain-language breakdown per nutrient.
When Longevity is on in your profile, PastePlate counts unique plants automatically via a strict 15-category protocol. In week view you see your progress (e.g. 40 / 30); in the plant explorer per day or week you see which species you've logged and which categories are still empty.
With every meal, your AI coach receives which plants and categories are already in your logbook this week, Monday through today, straight from the app database. That lets him actively steer toward new species rather than repeating the same plants.
With Longevity on, your coach also steers on fat quality (more unsaturated, 0 g trans fat) and fibre, alongside the plant count.
The 30-plants-per-week goal is inspired by the American Gut Project: more plant diversity supports a healthier microbiome.

Your goal drives how the AI judges every meal and how the day-circle halo reads your balance. PastePlate starts from your estimated daily burn (BMR × activity), then adjusts per strategy.
Pick your loss pace in kg per week. PastePlate turns that into a daily deficit below maintenance:
Daily deficit = kg per week × 7700 ÷ 7 (7700 kcal ≈ 1 kg body weight)
Your calorie target is estimated burn minus this deficit. Focus also sets your protein target.
For the day circle, actual burn is what counts. With Health sync on, that comes straight from your watch. No watch, or sync off? Mention movement and sport in your coach chat: your coach adds those calories on top of your base burn.
Set pace and focus in setup or under Settings → Profile. Your coach and day circles share the same calorie target, protein target and strategy. The circle stays green while you eat at or below your burn.
Calorie target = estimated burn. No deficit, no surplus.
Choose focus Balanced or Sport: that sets your protein target. There is no loss pace.
Set this in setup or under Settings → Profile. Your coach and day circles use the same targets. The day circle shows intake versus burn; the halo stays green with no judgement on too much or too little.
Start from estimated daily burn. Pick a focus: PastePlate adds a fixed daily surplus on top. No pace slider.
Protein target depends on your body composition. Lean bulk and strength & mass ask for a higher protein target than clean bulk.
Set your focus in setup or under Settings → Profile. Your coach and day circles share the same calorie and protein targets. The circle stays green while you eat at or above your burn.
The week planner runs on the same trust model as daily logging. A short wizard builds the request, you paste it into your own AI chat, you read the menu there and tweak whatever you want, then you paste the finished plan back into the app. PastePlate never calls the internet by itself.
Which week, what the menu is based on, how active each weekday is, your diet type, restrictions and allergies, where you shop, your eating window, meals per day, sources, your own wishes, and a summary before anything leaves the app.
Targets come from your profile, so the plan is built against the same calorie and protein goals your day circle uses. Because activity is set per weekday, a desk Monday and a training Saturday do not get the same numbers.
Your first reply is a readable seven-day menu in chat, not JSON. Discuss it, swap a dinner, ask for something cheaper. Only when you are happy do you tap Fetch week plan and import the structured version.
Step 11 is a single open field: Additional wishes (week menu). Whatever you type goes into the prompt word for word and is leading for food, shopping, brands, deals and product lookup. Your AI weaves it into the meals, portions and recipes instead of answering it as a separate note.
There is no list to pick from, so anything you can say in a sentence works. A few things people write:
Name a store here and your shopping list switches to products and house brands that fit it. Name none, and your AI keeps the menu generic rather than inventing a supermarket.
Intermittent fasting is not a label you tick somewhere. It becomes a hard rule in the request: your AI is told the exact times, how many slots it may use and what those slots are called. That is why no breakfast quietly slips into a 16:8 week.
Meals spread across the whole day, up to five slots: breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and evening.
An eight-hour window with one to four meals. Breakfast is off the table, so your day starts at lunch.
A six-hour window with room for one to three meals: a late lunch, a snack and dinner.
One meal a day, exactly one slot. Your full calorie and protein target for that day lands in that single dinner.
Set your first and last meal yourself and pick up to five slots inside that window.
Flip any day of the week to a full fasting day. That day gets no meals in the plan and shows up as a fasting day in your logbook.
Slot times are spread evenly between your first and last meal, and they come back in the plan as fixed pairs of name and time. Save your window as your default and the next plan starts there.
Menu holds your seven days. Every slot shows the time, the dish, the portion, calories, protein and the recipe behind it. Each day header sums it up, for example 4 meals · 2180 kcal planned.
Linked puts every shopping line next to the recipe it came from, so you can see whether the list really matches the menu. PastePlate checks that during import and warns you when too many items do not line up.
Shop is the list you take into the store. Tick items off, filter to one day or the whole week, and find weekly staples in their own group. Reset the ticks when you shop again.
Any tab can be shared as a PDF with logo, which helps when someone else is doing the shopping.
Pick the country where you buy your food and your AI uses supermarkets, products and house brands that exist there. No American cup measures in a Dutch kitchen.
Then cap the list. The presets are 10, 50 or 70 products, and with Longevity on they shift to 30, 55 and 75. You can also type your own number up to 120, or drop the limit altogether. A tight cap means more reuse across the week, and the Longevity minimum of 30 keeps your plant target next to protein and staples.
Items are merged per product with a weekly total, so you get Feta 2× 200 g rather than the same cheese on four separate lines.
Your week profile sets activity per weekday, so the plan aims at your real calorie and protein target for that day instead of one flat number for all seven.
The plan for the week you are in is part of your start prompt, so your coach already knows what you meant to eat today. Older weeks stay readable as view only.
Logging keeps running through your normal AI workflow. Eat something else and nothing breaks; your logbook simply records what you actually ate.
Week plans are stored in the app and travel along in your backup and in the Android to iOS transfer. What it does not do: PastePlate does not order your groceries, does not connect to a supermarket account and does not price your list. The same paste rhythm as daily logging is explained in setup.
Burned calories from your watch arrive on their own. On your day circle, you see intake next to actual burn each day, so you steer on what you really burned instead of an estimate. PastePlate reads the health platform already on your phone, so any watch that shares data there works. No brand pairing, no extra account, no export files.
Your meals arrive through your AI workflow. Your burn comes from Apple Health or Health Connect. PastePlate puts both side by side in your energy balance: the coloured halo around your day circle shows how far intake and burn are apart.
The Health overview sits in the Measurements tab: today at a glance, plus a seven-day snapshot. Tap any line to jump to that day. You decide per data type what comes in, and you can turn any of them off again.
Pick how much history you want on first connect: 30, 60, 90 or 180 days. Your trend charts fill up immediately instead of starting from zero.

PastePlate imports all workouts, not a fixed list of sports. Windsurfing, pickleball or padel show up with the name your health platform gives them, plus duration, calories, average heart rate and distance where available. Each one carries a badge showing where it came from, like via Garmin Connect.
Ran or cycled? PastePlate offers to add it to your sport log, so it joins your pace trend. You can let that happen automatically per sport, or hide sessions you would rather not see.
Workouts and daily burn feed that circle. Your sleep appears on the day detail as a single line: 7h 30m · bed 23:15.
PastePlate does not talk to your watch directly. Your watch sends data to the health platform on your phone. That phone app (not the watch itself) asks permission to write data to Apple Health or Health Connect. See your steps or workouts there? Step 1 is done.
Apple Watch: data usually flows to Health automatically once the watch is paired.
Change later: Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → [your watch app].
Change later: Health Connect app → App permissions → [your watch app].
Step 1 working? Open Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). Do you see steps, burn, or a workout from today? Yes → continue to step 2 below. No → fix that in your watch app first. PastePlate has nothing to read yet.
Step 1 working? Then grant PastePlate a separate permission to read Apple Health or Health Connect. Open Settings via the gear icon top left, tap Health sync (just below Health sources), turn Sync on, allow the data types you want, choose how much history to import, set your step mode, and tap Sync now.

A synced value never overwrites something you entered by hand. Weigh yourself on a smart scale and on paper, and your own entry is the one you keep seeing.
Each day uses one source for your burn: watch and phone never stack the same movement.
Smart merge is on by default in Health sync. Your watch leads; phone steps only fill gaps, for example when your watch was off but your phone kept counting.
See extra steps that way? When you export to your coach, you can optionally include them as calories. You choose what to add.
Health data is read on the device and stored in your local logbook. Nothing is uploaded to us. Switch a data type off, or the whole sync, whenever you like.
What it does not do: PastePlate imports no GPS tracks or maps, and no brand specific scores such as Body Battery, stress or training load. In the background the app fetches nothing while it is closed. With Health sync on, PastePlate syncs automatically as soon as you open the app. Want to refresh in between? Tap Sync now in Health sync, or pull the logbook or a trend screen down and release (pull to refresh: drag your finger down until the list lets go, then PastePlate fetches again). Numbers are shown as they arrive, without medical interpretation. See the health disclaimer and the privacy policy.
Four bottom tabs: Log · Week · Month · Measurements. Plus AI workflow, archives and tools from the menu. Macro circles and Longevity plants are covered in the logbook section above.
Log meals through your own AI chat. Copy the export block back into PastePlate. The app never calls the internet by itself.
